Cathedraltown, City of Markham

Cathedraltown is a master-planned mixed-use community located at Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 404 in the City of Markham and gains its name from the landmark “Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord” at its centre. Cathedraltown represents an innovative concept for community development, incorporating elements of historical urban planning and design to create a distinct, Georgian / Regency-inspired community that complements the existing Cathedral. John G. Williams Limited, Architect was hired by the developer in 2003 to serve as control architect, responsible for developing and implementing design guidelines that reflected the developer’s strong design vision for the community.
