Upper Unionville, City of Markham
Upper Unionville was awarded the Best P2G (Places to Grow) Low-Rise Community of the Year by BILD in 2015. Located at Kennedy Road and 16th Avenue in Markham, Upper Unionville incorporates a grid road pattern, roundabouts, parks and a mixed-use village square that combine with Victorian-inspired architecture to create an attractive and complete community. The community plan included many heritage features, such as the Beckett heritage farmhouse and the Eckhardt Log House, which is the oldest house in York Region. As Control Architect, our firm ensured that a heritage character, relevant to the local area context, was attained for all new built form within the community.
